“A Reflection of Our Culture and Nature”

 

Last week I was in Vancouver, the downtown, False Creek area where there is sky train, roads and condos. I was walking beside Science world when I saw the Trans am totem. It was a tree trunk with 5 cars piled on top.I was curious about this site, very interesting. I was curious about the meaning of this car totem. This is what I learned: The totem was built by a Vancouver artist Marcus Bowcott and his wife Helena.It represents the monument to a consumer culture on the move. It took Marcus and Helena two years to build the monument and was funded by themselves and few donations.The message that Marcus wants people to think about is: what was in this space year ago and what is in this space now. A reflection of our culture and nature.

“بازتابی از فرهنگ و طبیعت”

…هفته پیش به یکی از مراکز پر جمعیت ونکوور رفتم،مکانی که پر از ساختمان های سر به فلک کشیده،ترن هوائی و…آنجا را احاطه کرده است.موقع قدم زدن چشمم به درخت بریده شده و تنومندی برخورد،که بالای آن پنچ ماشین روی هم قرار داشتند.در مورد آن و اینکه چرا آنجا گذاشته اند،کنجکاو شدم.و اما نتیجه آنچه که من یاد گرفتم،
آقای بو یکوت و همسرس هلنا از هنرمندان ونکوور هستند،و برای این پروژه به مدت دو سال با هزینه شخصی وکمک های خیریه وقت گذاشتند.آنها خواستند،با اینکارمردم را با اتفاقهای که در مورد محل زندگی شان می افتد،آگاه کنند.(فرهنگ مصرفی).همین محل قبلأ از مکانهای طبیعی پر سبز ونکوور با درختهای زیبا بود،اما حال درختها بریده شده و جای آن را ساختمانها و…گرفته اند.
