ازاوسوال کردم:«پروسه یادگیری زبان بومی(یا«مادری»)دررابطه با دانش آموزان چگونه پیش می رود؟».او گفت:«دانش آموزان گرایشی برای یادگیری زبان محلی ندارند ومکالمات روزمره شان در خانه هم به انگلیسی ست».سوال بعدی من این بود:«دلیل این عدم گرایش رادرچه می بینی؟».اوجواب داد:«دانش آموزان وحتی خانواده هاشان ضرورتی برای یادگیری نمی بینند و گاه فکرمی کنند وقت تلف کردن است چون استفاده از آن کم شده است این تفکرباعث شده زبانهای متفاوت دیگردر بین بومیان ازبین برود(۲) که متاثرکننده است ٫درحالیکه اگرزبان محلی راهمانند دیگرزبانها یاد بگیرند زبان زنده می ماند و کاربرد هم خواهد داشت»…(۳)
